In everyday speech a “smoke machine” means both a hazer and a fog machine, but at a party they play different roles. A hazer produces a thin, even haze in which light beams are visible — that is the background for the whole set. A smoke machine produces distinct smoke in short bursts — that is the accent for a drop, the DJ's entrance or a track change. A fan helps distribute the smoke around the room. That is why for a DJ set we propose a kit rather than a single machine:

VAT 23% is added to these amounts: the first day is 307,50 zł incl. VAT for the Spaceball II, 430,50 zł for the Tour Hazer II and 430,50 zł for the Captain D. The Fan-200 fan costs 100 zł net for the first day, and 150 zł net for two days. Delivery and fluid are charged separately. Smoke bursts or continuous smoke
The Captain D. and Spaceball II work in two modes: short, distinct bursts at a high setting and continuous smoke at a low one. The manufacturer gives the following values:

Treat full power as an accent, and leave a pause between accents. Continuous smoke from a smoke machine can be set, but it is a different effect from the delicate haze of a hazer — for a background under the lights, choose a hazer.
Supply for the whole night: how long one filling lasts
Running time on one filling — approximate, based on the manufacturer's data on fluid consumption per minute:

The Tour Hazer II uses much less: at a 40% setting, one 5 l canister lasts approx. 83 hours of operation according to the manufacturer, i.e. with plenty to spare for the whole night. The higher the setting, the faster the fluid runs out. With longer continuous smoke, the Spaceball II tank needs refilling roughly every 50 minutes — for a long evening choose the Captain D. or take spare fluid.

You can take fluid together with the rental. If you have your own, use only the original fluid from the unit's manufacturer — we confirm compatibility when you order. We describe the selection rules on the page smoke machine fluid.
Party plan: approval, warm-up, start, shutdown
- Before booking. Agree with the venue on approval for smoke and haze — details in the section “Venue approval before the party” below.
- Before doors open. Set up the units, connect power and DMX. The hazer is ready approx. 60 s after power-on, the Captain D. and Spaceball II need approx. 7 min — switch them on in advance so the first burst does not wait for warm-up.
- Test. Start the hazer at a low setting and raise it until the beams are visible. Make one short burst with the smoke machine and check where the stream goes.
- During the set. Do not leave switched-on units unattended. Visibility in the room should not drop below 2 m, and exits, routes and emergency signs must remain visible and clear.
- After the set. Switch off the units. The hazer still cools down for approx. 60 s — do not disconnect power until then.
Control: DMX, timer or manual
You do not need a DMX console. The hazer has a built-in timer, and the Captain D. and Spaceball II have a timer and manual control. DMX is more convenient when the smoke is to be run from the same desk as the lights.
- Hazer: DMX 512, 2 channels (haze output and fan, each in the 1–99% range); a timer in which you set the pause and fog time (0,1–99 min). When you connect DMX, it takes priority over the other control methods.
- Captain D. and Spaceball II: DMX 512, timer and manual control. When the DMX signal is lost, the unit switches off after 15 s (manufacturer's data).
- Fan-200: 3 DMX channels (rotation, pause between operating phases, phase duration), timer and manual operation from the panel.
The DMX connectors on the hazer, Captain D. and Spaceball II are 5-pin. If your controller has a 3-pin output, you will need an adapter or a 3-pin → 5-pin cable. Tell us in your enquiry what you control from, and we will confirm in the offer which cables we supply.
Placement in the room: hazer, smoke machine and fan
- Hazer inlet away from the smoke. The manufacturer requires the air drawn in by the unit to be free of fog — do not place the hazer in the smoke stream from the smoke machine.
- Distances. Smoke Factory: outlet at least 1,5 m from people and heat-sensitive items (the English manual for the Captain D. says 3 m from the nozzle, so keep a greater distance with this model) and 60 cm from flammable materials. Hot droplets of fluid may occasionally fall from the outlet, so do not point it towards guests. Fluid and moisture damage electronics, so do not aim it at the DJ equipment either.
- Base and light. A stable, non-flammable and dry base; do not shine a fixture directly at the unit.
- Power. The hazer draws 1500 W, the Spaceball II 650 W. A hazer and a smoke machine running together are a heavy load, so plan a separate, properly protected circuit and agree it with the venue.
- Fan-200. Indoors only and with no contact with liquids. Power via a residual-current device (RCD); on truss only with a safety cable. The rubber feet may leave marks on a dance floor or PVC — put something under them.
Venue approval before the party
Before you book equipment, ask the club or the venue owner for approval for smoke and haze — smoke detectors are part of the fire protection system, which is the responsibility of the owner, manager or user of the building, not the rental company. - Delivery and pickup within Warsaw: from 300 zł net — one transport both ways, door to door, without carrying in or setup.
- Night pickup +200 zł — an option for parties that end at night.
- Delivery with setup and dismantling: from 1 000 zł net. Technical support can be added to the offer on request.
- Self-pickup: 0 zł — Wał Miedzeszyński 646 b. III, 03-994 Warsaw (Gocław). We agree the handover and return times in advance, including on Saturday and Sunday.
- Outside Warsaw: we state the travel cost in the offer.
- Net prices + VAT 23%, VAT invoice to a company or an individual.
How to rent a smoke machine for a party — 4 steps
- Enquiry. Write or call: date and hours, venue, how long the set will last, whether you have a DMX console, whether the venue has approved smoke, self-pickup or delivery, with or without fluid.
- Offer. On working days we send back an offer: availability on your date, price for all days, fluid and delivery.
- Pro forma and booking. Once you have chosen the equipment, we issue a pro forma invoice and confirm the booking after it is paid, in accordance with the Terms of Cooperation.
- Handover and return. We hand over the equipment in Gocław or deliver it to your location. Handover and return are confirmed with a protocol.

Smoke bursts or continuous smoke — which to choose for a party?
Bursts suit accents: the smoke machine gives a short, distinct stream for a drop, the DJ's entrance or a track change. You set continuous smoke at a low level — according to the manufacturer below 50% on the Captain D. and below 45% on the Spaceball II. Treat full power as an accent: at a 100% setting the manufacturer gives a smoke time of approx. 30–40 s (Captain D.) and approx. 20–22 s (Spaceball II), so leave a pause between accents. Build the background under the lights with a hazer.
How much fluid is needed for one night?
It depends on the setting and how often you trigger bursts. Add up the total time of bursts at full power and multiply it by the consumption given by the manufacturer: twenty minutes of bursts over an evening is approximately 2,4 l of fluid on the Captain D. (20 min × 120 ml/min). Continuous smoke uses less per minute but lasts longer — the values for both smoke machines are in the table in the section “Supply for the whole night”. At a 40% setting, the hazer lasts approx. 83 hours on one 5 l canister according to the manufacturer. Tell us in your enquiry how long the set will last — we will match the fluid supply.
When should I switch on the smoke machine before a party?
The hazer is ready approx. 60 s after power-on, the Captain D. and Spaceball II after approx. 7 min. Switch them on before the guests arrive, and do a test burst before the first track — warming up during the set means several minutes without smoke.
Can a DJ control the smoke without a DMX console?
Yes. The hazer has a timer, and the Captain D. and Spaceball II have a timer and manual control, so you can trigger smoke from the unit's panel or set its cycle on the timer. If you have a DMX desk or interface, connect the units to one line so the smoke runs together with the lights; when the DMX signal is lost, the Captain D. and Spaceball II switch off after 15 s (manufacturer's data).
Can I combine a hazer and a smoke machine at one party?
Yes, in practice it is a common combination: a hazer as the background, the Captain D. or Spaceball II for accents. Position them so the hazer's air inlet does not draw in smoke from the smoke machine — the manufacturer requires the air at the inlet to be free of fog. You can run both units from one DMX console or with separate timers. A hazer and a smoke machine running together are a heavy load, so agree the power supply with the venue.
Do I need to agree the smoke with the venue?
Yes — agree approval for smoke and haze with the club manager or the person renting out the room before booking the equipment, because smoke detectors may react to stage smoke. You will find the list of questions for the venue in the section on detectors on the smoke machine rental page.
Can I rent two of the same unit?
Yes. We have 2 each of the hazer, Captain D. and Spaceball II, and 4 Fan-200 fans. Two units let you run smoke from both sides of the dance floor or keep one in reserve. We state availability on your date in the offer.
What about equipment pickup when the party ends in the early morning?
Add the Night pickup option +200 zł. Switch off the units before pickup — the hazer still cools down for approx. 60 s, so do not disconnect it earlier. If you prefer to return the equipment yourself, pickup and return in Gocław cost 0 zł, and we agree the times in advance, including on Saturday and Sunday. Where should I place a smoke machine in a club?
At the side of the dance floor, with the outlet towards open space — not towards guests or the DJ equipment, because fluid and moisture damage electronics, and hot droplets of fluid may occasionally fall from the outlet. Smoke Factory requires the outlet to be at least 1,5 m from people and heat-sensitive items (the English manual for the Captain D. says 3 m from the nozzle, so keep a greater distance with this model) and 60 cm from flammable materials. The base must be stable, non-flammable and dry.
